New editor features in the May release of LANState 9.7
Before the summer, we decided to please users of our network administration program LANState with the new map editor and monitoring engine capabilities.
We have already written about the new REST API check, which first appeared in our other program 10-Strike Network Monitor. But other innovations were somehow passed over. We are fixing this.
Fractional divisor and multiplier
On one of the forums, one of our users complained that there is no way to convert the result of the “Disk Space” check into a percentage of the maximum volume. You can do this using the “Multiplier/Divider” check parameter, it was possible to multiply the value received via SNMP by (100/disk_volume). Or divide by (disk_volume/100). But the multiplier/divider supported only integer values. We made it fractional. You can now enter any value in the multiplier/divider field, like 0.000002345, and convert the check value into parrots 🙂
Search for IP cameras and video recorders
We added a search for video CCTV cameras using the RTSP protocol to the network scanner. If your network has such cameras with the RTSP support enabled, the program will find them and display them on the map with a special icon.
New “conveniences” of the map editor
Added a couple of useful “features” that will make the process of drawing a map faster and more convenient
1. You can select an icon and create several other icons around it at once, connected by lines. So, in just a couple of clicks you can draw a “switch-hosts” bundle. The icons will be aligned in a circle. The type of new devices can be specified.
2. The resulting “switch-hosts” bundle can be quickly selected to move it to another area of the map. Just click the central bundle icon and press CTRL+ALT+Z (Edit menu – Select all icons connected to this).
All changes in a list:
- Added the “REST (JSON) via HTTP/HTTPS” check. With its help, you can monitor various systems’ parameters that are stored in JSON files accessible on some web server using the REST API.
- Improved the “Disk space” check. Added the ability to apply a multiplier or divisor to the result (it can be converted to percentages).
- Added the ability to enter a fractional divisor and a multiplier for the monitoring parameter in the check settings.
- Added the ability to automatically create multiple icons around the other connected to it with lines. Using this feature, you can quickly draw a switch with hosts connected to it.
- Added quick selection of the entire “Switch-host” bundle for moving it to another location on the map.
- Added detection of IP cameras and DVR/NVR when scanning the network if they respond via RTSP.
- Added the Italian interface language.
- WEB: Added the web interface localization to supported interface languages.
- Improved scales on charts. They now are automatically scaled according to the displayed parameter values.
- Improved the searching for open TCP ports function when scanning the network.
- Fixed inaccuracies in the positioning of objects when the map is scaling. Icons and lines no longer change their positions.
- Fixed other minor bugs.
